Roc USA Sets Record for Progeny Earning at IJF-YJC Midwest Final

Wayne, IL – Nancy Whitehead’s Oldenburg stallion Roc USA topped the charts with progeny earnings in excess of $27,000 at the Young Jumper Championships Midwestern League Finals and International Jumper Futurity Midwestern Regional during Kentucky at Lamplight.  Offspring of Roc USA accounted for 1st and 3rd places in the $20,000 7/8-Year-Old Championship, 2nd in the $10,000 5-Year-old Championship, and  5th in the 6-Year-Old Championship.

$20,000 YJC 7/8-Year-Old Midwestern Championship

Following three days of competition Nick Novak won the final jump-off duel aboard Nancy Whitehead’s homebred mare, Rendezvous 22 (Roc USA/Roving Minstrel xx) against Sergio Campos and Circa (Cassini I/Ariadus) owned by Kristianna Lindgren. The pair were the only two to jump clear throughout the 3-round competition but Sergio Campos’ blistering pace of 36.606 seconds cost him dearly at the last obstacle. Morocco (Roc USA/Acaroid xx), who won the Midwestern YJC Championship as a 5-Year-Old, finished 3rd with a three round total of 8 faults just ahead of another former Champion, Choco (Cantos/Larome) who won the 6-Year-Old division title in 2008 under the name of Chocolate Martini.

$15,000 YJC 6-Year-Old Midwestern Championship

Four horses posted clear rounds over three days of competition to advance to the jump-off in the 6-Year-Old Championship. In the end, Amanda Flint galloped home in 37.761 seconds aboard her German born gelding Superbad (Ludwig von Bayern/Kolibri) barely 2-hundreths of a second faster than Theo Genn with Bridlebourne Stables’ Dutch bred Zenith Dance (Sydney/Indoctro). Annabel Benito posted a steady 41.560 seconds with her Cortender (Corland/Contender) for third place. Fastest of all at 36.114 seconds, Christian Heineking’s speed cost NKH LLC’s NKH Barbosa (Balou du Rouet/Dorn) an unfortunate 4 faults.

$10,000 YJC 5-Year-Old Midwestern Championship

American-bred horses were in the majority in the $10,000 5-Year-Old Championship. Two returned triple clear to contest the jump-off round. Sergio Campos posted his first victory of the day with Ann Koch’s homebred Spirit of Alena, a homebred by Paladijn out of Alena in a time of 36.512. Lisa Goldman posted a slower time and earned 4 faults to take second place with her Roc USA daughter Rococo, earning a $3,000 IJF bonus in addition to the $2,000 in prize money for her efforts.

International Jumper Futurity Midwestern Regional

Nine of eleven entries in the IJF Midwestern Regional were sired by Roc USA, but even so, awards were evenly distributed throughout the group. Champion in the category for Scope and Technique was Ambassador CWF, a bay gelding by Acord III out of Le Cassinia, by Cassini I. Ambassador CWF, owned and ridden by Thomas Cerra was bred by Crooked Willow Farm. Top honors in the Type and Movement category went to Right as Rain a chestnut gelding by Rijn Beau out of The Final Word by Gaston. Right as Rain, who looks to be a future hunter derby prospect, was presented by Amy Sertl for owner Janis Collette. Nancy Roth DVM is the breeder. Declared Most Consistent and Rideable by the jury was Roc Holiday ridden by Meg Leben for owners Penny and Nick Sondel. Nancy Whitehead is the breeder.
